On what platforms does Ormetis Professional Edition run?

The software runs on Windows® XP, Vista®, and Windows 7. We are currently working on Mac, Linux, and Software as a Service (SaaS) versions.

Is there a limit to the size of files that can be handled?

Ormetis Professional Edition can handle files under 2 gigabytes that have fewer than 2 billion rows or columns.

Does the software perform calculations or data analysis?

Ormetis Professional Edition was not designed for calculation or analysis. Rather, it is the perfect complement to spreadsheets such as Excel and data analysis software, as it lets you combine multiple spreadsheets and prepares data for further analysis.

Do I need a technical background or specific skills to use Ormetis Professional Edition?

Ormetis Professional Edition was built specifically for non-technical business workers to provide an easy solution for organizing and combining data. Anyone with experience using Excel will be able to start using the software immediately, as it uses many of the same metaphors and the same interface. However, to most effectively utilize the software and better understand the concepts and features, users should read the documentation and/or attend a training class.

How do the changes to the data on screen, such as sorting and merging, affect the original files being manipulated?

Ormetis Professional Edition doesn’t touch the source data, as these files are in “read only” mode. The data is loaded in RAM before it is merged, organized, and sorted on screen. Only the final results of this manipulation process will be saved, as well as the steps leading to the final result.

What happens when data in the source files change?

When data changes in one of the original files, Ormetis Professional Edition will automatically update the information on screen. Furthermore, the software will rename the old data file and save the new results that are based on the modified data.

Does the software read Open Office, Star Office, or Google Docs formats?

For now, Ormetis Professional Edition only reads Excel and txt/csv files. However, information contained in Open Office, Star Office, and Google Docs can be exported to Excel and from there be read by Ormetis Professional Edition.

In what languages is Ormetis Professional Edition available?

The software is currently available in English and French. It understands more than 100 formats of dates, numbers, and currency to facilitate the manipulation and combination of data from varied and multiple sources.
